Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (8-2) in Caguas on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Criollos (4-6) 96-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Caguas had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Nigerian guard Olumiye Oni (198-1997, college: Yale) helped adding 11 points, 8 rebounds, 18 assists and 4 blocks. At the losing side Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197-1997, college: Oregon) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Criollos have a solid series of three victories in a row. Caguas maintains fifth place with 4-6 record. Bayamon at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Caguas are looking forward to face higher ranked Guaynabo (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayamon will play against Aguada and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Aguada. Fourth ranked Leones (3-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Santeros (1-7) 77-74 on Wednesday evening. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Jordan Murphy accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. Dominican center Joel Soriano (211-2000, college: St.John's) came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 22 rebounds for Aguada in the defeat. Santeros' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ponce maintains fourth place with 3-5 record. Aguada at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Ponce will play against higher ranked Mayaguez (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aguada will play against the league's leader Bayamon to get more than just one victory in their record.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mayaguez maintains third place with 6-4 record having just two points less than leader Arecibo. Loser Piratas keep the second position with three games lost. Mayaguez will meet Ponce (#4) on the road in the next round. Quebradillas will have a break next round.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 7: San German was destroyed by Guaynabo on the opponent's court 109-89. Carolina was outscored by Arecibo in a home game 74-94. Manati recorded a loss to Quebradillas on the road 86-79.



Mayaguez - Quebradillas 86-63

The game between Top Four teams took place in Mayaguez. Third ranked host Indios (6-4) smashed their biggest opponent Piratas (6-3) 86-63. Mayaguez dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Piratas' 36. Mayaguez outrebounded Quebradillas 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. New Zealand center Tyrell Harrison (214-1999) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Four Indios players scored in double figures. Panamanian-Mexican center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Carlos Emory (196-1991) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Rather expected game in Guaynabo where 5th ranked Atleticos (1-6) were crushed by second ranked Mets (5-4) 109-89 on Wednesday. Guaynabo made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while San German only scored nine points from the stripe. Guaynabo looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International center Ismael Romero (205-1991) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Derrick Williams (203-1991, college: Arizona) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. New Zealand forward Sam Mennenga (206-2001, college: Davidson) produced 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American guard Joseph Young (188-1992, college: Oregon) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Five Guaynabo and four San German players scored in double figures. Atleticos' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Guaynabo went down to fourth position due to points difference. San German lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Guaynabo will meet at home Caguas (#5) in the next round. San German will play against Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American guard Kobi Simmons (196-1997, college: Arizona) produced 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capitanes have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Arecibo maintains first place with 7-5 record. Defending champion Carolina dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Santurce. Arecibo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Carolina will play against the league's leader Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
